Extra Curricular Activities

At Florence Melly Community Primary School, we offer a variety of clubs and activities outside of our regular school day. We are really proud of our vibrant extra-curricular offer and this is much appreciated by our parents/carers. All of our clubs are free as we see these as an extension of our school day; yet another way to enhance our pupils’ cultural capital. In the past twelve months, we have offered the following clubs and activities: football, multi-sports, chess, Summer garden kitchen, forest mini skills, Spanish, phonics, enterprise, athletics, chef skills cookery, art, tennis, book club, Irish dancing, puzzle and board game, times table, choir, crafts, forest explorers, Year 6 boosters, yoga, Squiggle while you wiggle, social interaction and communication, Lego, story book, parent and child cookery, social skills and games, curling, life-skills, Christmas around the world, fantastic book awards, world foods celebration, newspaper and STEM. WOW…we told you that our extra-curricular offer was pretty good!

As part of our extra-curricular offer, we aim to:

  • ensure that our curriculum extends beyond the academic, technical or vocational and that it provides for learners’ broader development, enabling them to develop and discover their interests and talents.
  • offer provision that supports learners to develop their character – including their resilience, confidence and independence – and help them know how to keep physically and mentally healthy.
  • prepare learners for future success in their next steps.
  • prepares learners for life in modern Britain by: equipping them to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society; developing their understanding of fundamental British values; developing their understanding and appreciation of diversity; celebrating what we have in common and promoting respect for the different protected characteristics as defined in law.

In order to achieve these aims, we offer a range of lunchtime and after-school activities that enhance and support children’s learning beyond our vibrant curriculum offer. Clubs are run by a mixture of staff and adults from external organisations and are available across all year groups.

We are delighted to inform parents/carers about the new extra-curricular clubs available to the children after the Easter break. These clubs will run up to the May half-term (at least) and they start the first week back (week beginning the 15th April 2024).

Please complete the form below, to request a place for your child. We will always allocate places fairly. Please note, due to demand, you may not receive a place for a club that you requested but we will do our best toaccommodate. If this is the case, we will contact you. Once you have requested a place, please assume that you have secured one. We will let you know if you have not been allocated a place.

If you have more than one child, please complete a form for each child.

Thank you for your continued support and have a wonderful Easter break.
